Healthy and Yummy Homemade Baby Foods for Kids 6-8 Months

Healthy eating starts during childhood. If you let your child get used to fruits and veggies before the age of two, you won’t have a hard time feeding them vegetables in the future. Making their food at home helps you regulate the amount of nutrients your babies consume daily. Here are some easy recipes for kids 6-8 months old that you can whip up in no time.

APPLE AND PEAR SAUCErecipes for kids

This recipe for kids is extremely easy to do and your baby will love it for sure.

  • Ingredients: 1 apple and 1 ripe pear (for both you can choose any variety).
  • Preparation:

      • Peal and core both fruits then chop them into small, 1 inch chunks.
      • Add around an inch level of water in a saucepan then place a steamer basket on top. Place the chopped apples in the basket, cover the steamer basket, then boil in a medium to high heat.
      • Steam the apples for 2 minutes before adding the chopped pears. Continue steaming the fruits, mixing them every so often to make sure they’re cooked evenly. Do this for 10 minutes.
      • Remove the saucepan from the heat then place the steamed fruits in a blender or food processor. Let it cool for a few minutes then blend them till the consistency is just right for your baby. Add some water or baby milk as needed to thin the puree.
      • Scoop up enough for your baby’s consumption.

  • Storage: Place in an airtight, plastic container then store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or the freezer for up to 3 months.

BERRIES AND YOGURT MIXrecipes for kids

This dish is perfect for your infant. It’s good for the gut and it’s packed with vitamins.

  • Ingredients: Plain whole-milk yogurt, 1 cup blueberries, and 1 cup raspberries
  • Preparation:

      • Thaw the frozen berries and then mix both blueberries and raspberries in a blender or food processor till your puree is smooth.
      • Strain the puree in a saucepan then let it simmer for 5 minutes, till the berry puree thickens.
      • Transfer the puree into a bowl and cool while stirring.
      • Place some yogurt in a baby bowl then add a few spoon fulls of the berry puree in the bowl. It is now ready for your baby to eat!

  • Storage: Place the puree in an airtight, plastic container then store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

BUTTERNUT SQUASH PUREErecipes for kids

Butternut is rich in fiber and nutrients, making it perfect for your baby’s dish. This is a quick and easy recipe for your kids that you can prepare ahead of time.

  • Ingredients: 1 butternut squash
  • Preparation:
  • Preheat the oven to 375͒F (190͒C).

      • Get the baking pan and place half a cup of water on it.
      • Cut the butternut squash lengthwise into two. Remove the seeds and fiber at the center then place them, with inner side facing downwards, on the baking pan.
      • Bake the squash for about an hour, till the squash is tender enough.
      • Let the squash stand to cool. Then when it’s cool enough, scoop out all of it from the skin into a blender or food processor.
      • Blend the squash to achieve the consistency that’s just right for your baby. Add some water or baby milk as needed to thin the puree.
      • Place ample amount in the baby bowl then serve it up to your baby.

  • Storage: Place in an airtight, plastic container then store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or the freezer for up to 3 months.

PRUNES AND OATS

This is a great way of introducing complex sugars to your baby’s diet. This is an easy meal for kids and they’re healthy too!

  • Ingredients: ¼ cup rolled oats, 4 pitted prunes
  • Preparation:

      • Blend or process the rolled oats till it’s finely ground. Then in a small saucepan, add 1 cup of water and the rolled oats. Boil the mixture in a medium to high heat, while stirring the mixture once in awhile. Then reduce to low heat.
      • Stir the rolled oats with a whisk till you bring it to a consistency that’s just right for your baby. Add water or baby milk as needed, if your mixture is too dry.
      • After achieving the right texture for your oats, let the mixture cool at a safe temperature.
      • In another saucepan that’s over a medium-heat, add the prunes and ¾ cup of water.
      • Let the prunes simmer for 8 minutes till the prunes are tender.
      • After doing so, remove the prunes from the heat and let it cool slightly.
      • After it’s cooled, place the prunes in a food processor or blender then puree till it’s smooth. Add water if the puree is too thick.
      • Place some of your oats in the baby bowl with a few spoonfuls of prune puree; it’s now ready for consumption

  • Storage: Place in an airtight, plastic container then store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or the freezer for up to 3 months.

GREEN PEA PUREE

This is an easy dinner idea for your kids since it doesn’t require any chopping but at the same time, it doesn’t limit the nutrient consumption of your baby.

  • Ingredients: 1 cup frozen peas
  • Preparation:

      • Pour the frozen peas in a saucepan with a steamer basket on top then add an inch level of water to the saucepan.
      • Place the pan to a medium-high flame, cover it, and bring it to a boil. Steam the peas for 4 minute till it’s tender.
      • Remove the pan from the heat and let the peas cool. After doing so, place the peace and any additional garnishing in a blender or food processor then blend the mixture to a puree. Add water or baby milk as needed.
      • Place some puree in a baby bowl and be ready to serve it to your baby.

  • Storage: Place in an airtight, plastic container then store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or the freezer for up to 3 months.
